Quick Car Carrier: Birth of a Gentle Giant

Tuesday, January 30, 2018

MANILA, Philippines A new player has emerged in car carrier industry as the Philippines showed no sign of slowing down in automotive sales and production markets in 2018. Quick Car Carrier, the newest type of service offered by QuickReliable Services (Quick), was aimed at filling the gaps of car carrier demands in the country.

Alvin Polhen Zaguirre, vice president for car carrier department of Quick Car Carrier, said the entry of Quick hopes to loosen the dominance of the major players that control more or less 75 percent of the market share. These dominant players are represented by only four or five companies.

“There is a huge demand for car carrier services in the coming years taking into considerations how the automotive market continues to rise in the Philippines, and the investments poured in various vehicle production lines here,” Zaguirre said.

According to the ASEAN Automotive Federation, the Philippines is the second fastest growing automotive markets in the ASEAN region. In the last three quarters of 2017, Philippine automotive sales rose 15.9 percent while the local production jumped 30.1 percent.

Amid the threat of the impending increases in tariffs and taxes for cars in 2018, Zaguirre believed that this will not affect the market demands for car carrier services as more Filipinos still prefer to buy cars.

“Unless there is an improvement in the country's mass transport system, Filipino will continue to purchase cars being the most convenient way of transportation,” he said.
